Carambola Cafe, Hudson - Lunch review

Carambola Cafe on Urbanspoon

A day in the country would not be complete without a visit to Carambola.
Carambola has an open kitchen where you can watch as the owner and Chef prepares a variety of his own creations. Scott will entertain and charm you with his pleasant personality.
The ingredients are fresh, the presentation is beautiful and the food is Amazing. I started with sweet potato fries, you know these are popular when you can see an order of them on just about every table. The aioli dipping sauce was heavenly with the fries. The halibut steak I had, was so perfectly seasoned that my mouth watered when I took my first bite. The entire fish had been filet that day and I was not going to miss the chance of tasting it. The halibut was lightly battered in rice flour, seasoned with sea salt and pan fried in olive oil, then finished off in the oven. It was moist and flaked nicely with your fork. It was accompanied by a grilled yellow beet salad with goat cheese, piled high on topped of arugula. Yellow beats are so sweet that the dressing of pureed sun dried tomatoes was a perfect complement.  Another great features of Carambola is that it is a BYOB, this allow you to experience a gourmet meal for a fraction of the price.   4 1/2 mmm's out of 5
